FLAT PACK
The students have developed their personal practices of Fine Art, Curating and Writing for exhibition by making a body of studio work, written piece, or curatorial strategy in response to an, albeit loose, prompt. The prompt this year was IKEA, the global home furnishing brand founded in 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad as a tiny mail-order catalogue business. Students were asked to select a particular product range and think about its style and functionality as well as researching the history, ethos of IKEA and experience of visiting the physical location. Collaborators then came together to discuss their findings and ideas and how their own practice could be developed through a group show. The Covid-19 crisis gave them an added intervention to adapt the work they were creating for a physical exhibition into the digital exhibition space on display here.
